Fierce and well-balanced competition, great prizes and fantastic atmosphere – this is the Volkswagen Castrol Cup – an innovative racing series taking place in Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Slovakia. Volkswagen Castrol Cup is a new racing series, which debuted in April of this year. Drivers compete in the same, specially prepared Volkswagen Golfs GTI. This increases the level of competition, as the results depend on drivers abilities and skills. The organizer plans to improve season 2014 calendar with a brand new rounds in other European countries.

Relatively low cost of participation in the Cup

Volkswagen Castrol Cup participation costs are:

• 38 000 euro (plus 23% VAT tax) if deposit (5 000 euro) is paid until 31st October 2013;
• 43 000 euro (plus 23% VAT tax) if deposit (5 000 euro) is paid until 15th January 2014.

 The price includes:

• race car and its transport to all races and two official test days before and during the season,
• full service maintenance during training and racing throughout the season,
• fuel for training and racing,
• high performance tires
• all track entry fees
• approved racing overall and a package of clothing with Cup branding
• advertising space on the car and on the racing overall
• 3 VIP tickets allowing to access the racing venues and the VW hospitality zone
• catering on every racing weekend (including training days),
• briefings and lectures, about driving techniques, using telemetry systems, and track safety, etc.
• marketing and media package

The main prize for the winner of the Cup is the new Volkswagen Golf as well as the amount of 30 000 Euro. The runner-up receives 20 000 Euro, and the third driver 10 000. The money will be spend on further racing career development. Drivers will also be rewarded after each race. The first eight drivers will receive the amount of € 8 000 to share.

Drivers will use raceprepared Golfs whose specification was developed in collaboration with Volkswagen R GmbH and Volkswagen Motorsport – Volkswagen departments dealing with sports cars. Car is equipped with a 2.0 TSI petrol engine, which produces as much as 310 bhp. Push – to – Pass system, whose activation for a short time increases the car’s engine power by an additional 50 hp, spices up the competition. Cars are equipped with a sports suspension and other components adapting them to professional racing.

The competition in this year’s Volkswagen Castrol Cup keeps us in tense right from the start.
